Psychic Medium Dusten Lyvers and Liz continue their conversation on Instagram Live where Dusten answers common questions people have of psychic mediums.
Why did my loved one not come through during a psychic medium reading?
Liz shares what she has learned during her research. There is no definite answer and we don’t really know what it is like once someone has passed away and how things work on The Other. Side. It does seem that time and space work differently, but maybe we are all really busy once we have crossed over and we can’t always stop what we are doing. Every time you call or text a friend or family member they can’t always stop what they are doing and answer. It also seems that when people get frequent readings, their loved ones often stop coming in with a medium. No one knows why.
Dusten adds that maybe the sitter isn’t really ready. Maybe it all has to do with timing. If the grief is too early or too raw, maybe that could be a reason. Also maybe the medium and the deceased person aren’t well aligned. If the medium is someone who the deceased person might not have liked, maybe they won’ t come in. Or maybe they can’t connect.
Does Dusten get nervous before giving Psychic Medium readings?
Dusten shares that when he was starting out he used to get nervous but now he feels motivated. Being a mental health counselor he calls this “positive stress.” This is a kind of stress that is actually really motivating.
How long should a person wait between getting psychic medium readings?
Dusten requires that his clients wait six months between readings if they are getting the same type of reading. If someone had a psychic reading, they could get a medium reading as soon after or vice versa. However, Dusten will not give two medium readings or two psychic readings to the same person within six months. He wants to remain ethical and to make sure his clients do not ever get addicted to him, which can happen.
To remind everyone a psychic reading is when a psychic or medium is reading the energy of a living person and a medium reading is when they are connecting with someone’s loved one who has passed away.
Liz thinks that if you are going to different mediums, there doesn’t meed to be a time limit, but agrees it can be unhealthy if you are going to too many to heal grief or think it will make your grief go away. If you’re doing research, it is okay to go frequently.
How did Dusten realize that he was psychic medium?
Realizing he was psychic medium was not something that happened over night. It was a long process. Dusten got signs as a child and would see shadows with faces in the shadows. He would get scared, but his dad would help him, so Dusten knows how to help children who have these abilities and might be scared too. Dusten now has a mentor John who he met when he was 19, and he was able to guide Dusten and help him to realize and develop his abilities.
Did Dusten know any psychic mediums when he was a child so he could realize this was an option for his future?
Liz explains she had no idea that this even existed when she was a child. Not in any genuine way at least. Dusten explains that he really didn't know either. His mom’s side is Catholic and his dad’s side of his family is non-denominational Christian. They rarely prayed or went church, but they did sometimes and they did celebrate holidays. But they did not know much about spirituality beyond religion. He di dno’t keno mediums and there were no mediums in his family. His family definitely wonders where it came from!
Dusten understands grief and trauma.
Dusten is a licensed mental health counselor, so along with being a medium, he is especially good at dealing with grief and trauma. He does think that most mediums tend to be into healing or psychology in some form. For example, the celebrity medium Tyler Henry had been a nursing aide. Dusten not only does counseling, but he has worked with crises counseling which makes him really good at working with the trauma of grief. When he is counseling, he is careful to be ethical and keep his skills as a psychic medium and as a counselor separated, but his intuitive abilities help.
Do people on The Other Side need counseling or healing when they cross over?
Liz asks Dusten if there are counselors and therapists on The Other Side? People who have crossed over must have a lot of trauma. Dusten gives some thoughts on this topic.
What is the most evidential of an afterlife “What the Fuck?!” moment Dusten has encountered?
Dusten has had some major WTF strong evidence of an afterlife, both when he has gotten readings from another medium and when he has given readings. One time that really stands out was when his mentor, John, suggested Dusten come onto a group ZOOM reading being done by another medium. This medium knew amazingly accurate details about Dusten’s family. In Dusten’s own readings, he gets so man emails afterwards backing and verifying the psychic and medium information he has gotten during a reading. He and Liz talk about the time he blew her away during her reading when he got really accurate details about her childhood home. He has saved about 200 emails over ten years which verify his readings and that really ended up solidifying everything.
How can I get signs from my loved ones who have passed away?
Does Dusten get a lot of signs from his loved ones? And what are some tips he can offer for those of us who want to get signs from our loved ones? Dusten shares some tips on how we can all get more signs and notice them when we do. He explains we should ask for signs and keep a journal. A good sign to ask for is something out of the ordinary that reminds you of your loved one and you will recognize as them. You don’t want the sign to be too common. Ants yes the bug, are a sign with his grandfather, which he explains. A more typical sign is a rainbow which is his sign with his grandmother, and he shares a pretty moving story about her and why you should do what you really want to do.
Can psychic mediums see and talk with their loved ones who have passed away whenever they want?
That is a big misconception people have about psychic mediums, that they can just see and communicate with their loved ones who have passed away. Dusten can’t see them as if they were still here, but he does sense and feel them.
Can anyone be a psychic medium?
Dusten teaches classes on developing your own psychic medium abilities. Anyone can take them, even if you have never had any psychic or medium experiences in your life. While not anyone can or should be a professional medium healing grieving people and demonstrating that we really do survive bodily death, we all have some form of abilities. When people take mediumship classes they are always surprised when they get information or have experiences they never thought possible.
